Sears Wii Alerts Going Forward

AddThis Social Bookmark Button

All, I just want to let you know that starting later today as soon as Sears fixes their site once again, I will be reactivating Sears once again. However, this time around I am going to cut back on the alert times for just Sears. I typically send out alerts every 4 hours until stock is diminished. Given that it usually takes Sears longer than that to fix their site, I am going to push their specific alerts back to approximately 12 hours. Hopefully they will be able to fix their site within this larger time frame. If it so happens that Sears can’t deal with that time frame, I may push it even further. Time will tell.

Also, it appears that stock is being shown as available every morning. As I stated in my comments on an earlier post, I feel this is related to canceled orders being reintroduced back into the system. I can not control this. It does appear that there are units available in the morning, just a VERY, VERY limited number. I am talking in the single digits. As result of this occurrence, expect that you will receive alerts every day for Sears. And, unless you are up ultra early EST or late PST and act Flash Gordon quick, you will more than likely not be able to get a Wii before the site starts displaying incorrect inventory information.

I am tired of dealing with Sears and do not want to remove it completely from the tracker. I think this new system will work out in the end.

Also, I have removed Sears from the Twitter Beta test as a result. We do not need mobile alerts early in the morning for this limited number of units. I will turn them back on if I feel Sears has corrected the situation to a certain degree.

    Janet,
Go to the Wii tracker page and click on the email alerts link on the left. Follow the instructions and you will start to receive alerts the instant I locate some. Simple. :)

First off, I am desperate for a Wii this winter and this site is very helpful so thank you for all your hard work. It seems like Sears may be the best option right now so I could deal with receiving constant alerts once you put the link back up. Thanks!

  4. Andy Says:

    Justin,
Somewhat related, though you mentioned Sears being removed, but which alerts do you have set up to be sent via SMS?

  5. Jeremy Says:

I had a Sears Wii in my cart multiple times this morning and even had one almost all the way through processing (had put in my credit card info, etc.) but didn’t wind up getting one. What a frustrating site! :)

  6. Chuck Says:

I had a wii from Sears in my cart this morning as well, took a few minutes to find my credit card and focus, by the timeI checked out they were gone!

  7. Amy Says:

When are you going to get more Wii on your website? I stayed up almost all night last night. Today maybe?

  8. Justin Says:

Andy, currently the only alerts being sent to mobile are Amazon, Best Buy, and Circuit City. Sears used to be there, but they ruined that. I may add them here in the next week or so. This morning was a good sign toward re inclusion in the mobile alerts by not having stock early this morning and present false hope.

  9. Justin Says:

    Amy,
I do not have any control over this. It is up to the online web sites I track to get the stock. Then once they release it to the web world, I let you know ASAP. CompUSA had stock this morning for a few minutes. I am hoping that Amazon or Circuit City will release some today or tomorrow.

    Justin,

Thanks for this service. Just one comment/question — CompUSA had a limited supply of Wiis this morning starting at (according to your site) 8:08 am. I didn’t get the email on the 2 emails I signed-up with (different servers, too) until 8:11 and 8:12am. Of course, by then, they were no more. What gives?

    Thanks!
    Mish

    Mish,
This is could be for any number of reasons, but it might be because of the number of subscribers I have. I am working on upgrading the server this weekend. And I am also talking with some folks on figuring out the best way to attack the issue of sending this many alerts at once and most importantly as quickly as possible. I am in new territory this year and I need help because this is an an area that is beyond my knowledge base. I am a hobbyist/amateur programmer and this is beyond programming and involves the email server. Just be sure I am putting as much as I can into getting emails to all of you as fast as I can.

Understood - thanks again so much. Though I’ve yet to get a Wii, I know you are making a lot of people’s holidays all the merrier.

Hey folks - also check out your local craigslist. As a whole they don’t seem to nearly as greedy as all the e-bay sellers.

I had ordered the Wii after getting an alert and it was from Sears. I did not get an email confirmation about it being shipped, but lo and behold, today, the Wii was on my porch!! Thanks so much for this site!!! It truly works!

  15. Theresa Says:

Shannon-when did you place the order? I have not received anything from Sears and just ordered one from Toys R Us. I just may end up with two!

  16. James Says:

A ditto to what Shannon said. I ordered one from Sears on 11/27 based on an alert from this site. Also, I did not get an email confirmation, but I did get an order number after several tries. The order has been in their system since, but without a tracking number. Just today (11/30) I received a UPS tracking #, so it looks like I have one on the way. This site rocks, I probably wouldn’t have found one for my son in time for Christmas with out it!

[...] Wii, but that was a bust, too. It reported stock at Sears a few times, but that was mostly due to Sears’ busted code. had I been awake at the right time, however, it may have let me get a Wii when Amazon infamously [...]

  18. Andrea Says:

This site truly works. I ordered from Sears on Nov.27th from the email alert that I received. I was getting worried since I did not receive an email confirmation from Sears. Today (Nov. 30th) I checked my order status and it has a tracking number from UPS and it is set to deliver on 12/4.

    Thanks for this great site!

  19. John Says:

I ordered a Wii at 12:15 am EST 11/27 from sears before it showed up in the tracker, like everybody else didnt get confirmation from Sears, but the on the 29th tracking number showed up, and its here at UPS in my town waiting to be delivered Mon 12/03.
Although I saw it before the tracker, I wouldnt have been trying sears without this site and the tracker.
Another note: I had processed the order so many times before getting one, my card was charged $1.00 25 times, and i ended up getting two (2) next one to be here 12/04.

    Thanks Alot !!!!

Thanks, Justin. I got a Wii for my son’s school’s charity auction from Sears courtesy of your tracker (arrived last Thursday or Friday - my wife was very impressed). Sears told me they had a glitch where about 2000 orders were accepted for 20 units in stock but they apparently got more and fulfilled what they could (and cancelled what they couldn’t). And this of course, has nothing to do with the tracker - it was successfully reporting stock availability based on what Sears.com was telling it.

I wish my techies were as sharp as you are so we could build our own tracker, but yours seems to be the best that’s out there. Maye your affiliate income pay for your children’s (or future children’s) college.

Ordered a Wii from Sears on 11/27 like many others and also like them, did not receive an email to confirm the order until 12/1. Happy to say that my Wii is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday. I searched every site (even the tracker ones) and yours truly is the best! Absolutely beats waiting out in the cold! I could have never gotten one without this site! To those still searching, don’t give up and keep checking this site, it really does work. Thank you!!!

  22. Shannon Says:

I placed my order on November 26th and received it on Nov 30th. I got my email confirmation about it being shipped after I received the Wii, so you may get the same.
